Transfer News: Arsenal Make Approach For Liverpool Striker Target
Arsenal have made an approach to Juventus in a bid to sign Liverpool target Alvaro Morata before the January transfer window closes next week.
With the winter transfer window in full swing, manager’s are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. Today, Arsenal are linked with Liverpool target Alvaro Morata…
The Express are reporting that Arsenal have made an approach to Juventus in a bid to sign Liverpool target Alvaro Morata before the January transfer window closes next week.
Morata was linked with a move to the Emirates when he left Real Madrid 18 months ago but the North Londoners missed out as the striker completed a move to Turin in 2014.
The Spanish international enjoyed a promising debut season in Italy having scored 15 goals as Juve retained the Serie A title and reached the final of the Champions League.
However, the 23-year-old has struggled to replicate that form this season and Morata has managed to score just three goals in all competitions so far this campaign.
Boss Massimiliano Allegri has favoured Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic up front in recent weeks and this has led to speculation suggesting Morata could be set to leave the club, and a move to England could be on the cards.
The Express claim that Arsenal have now renewed their interest in Morata and have supposedly made contact with Juve to enquire about the striker’s availability this month.
It’s not clear whether Wenger is looking to sign the Spaniard on an initial loan deal but if it’s a permanent move he’s after, then the Gunners boss may have to dig deep as the newspaper suggests that Morata has a £61m buy-out clause inserted in to his contract.
Obviously Juve could decide to cash-in for much less but it remains to be seen whether the Italian champs are ready to let Morata leave after just 18 months at the club.
Arsenal could also face stiff competition from Liverpool as the Express also cite a report coming out of Italy that claims the Merseysiders have expressed their interest in taking Morata to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements with Danny Ings unlikely to play again this season while Daniel Sturridge has once again endured an injury-plagued campaign.
To make matters worse, Christian Benteke is struggling to fit in to the German coaches style of play, so it appears Klopp is eyeing a move for Morata as he looks to strengthen his forward line for the second half of the season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Morata would be an excellent signing if either Arsenal or Liverpool could get a deal agreed with Juve this month.
