Arsenal have it all to do if we’re to remain in the Champions League after Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona left the Emirates with a 2-0 win on Tuesday night.
We gave as good as we got during the opening forty-five minutes with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain missing a great chance to open the scoring after scuffing his close-range shot, while Luis Suarez saw a header drift wide on the stroke of half-time.
Barca continued to dominate possession after the break and we gradually began pushing higher and higher up the field, and unfortunately it ended up costing us the opening goal.
After an attack broke down, we were caught far too high up the pitch and Neymar broke before teeing-up Messi who cooly fired past Petr Cech for 0-1 in the 71st minute.
We pushed to find an equaliser but the killer blow came when Mathieu Flaimini fouled Messi in the box just minutes after coming off the bench and the Argentinean made no mistake from the spot to make it 0-2.
We’ll now have to pull off a miracle at the Nou Camp in three weeks time to stand any chance of turning the tie around.
