Jack Wilshere & Tomas Rosicky Fitness Update….
Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky are going to take another step towards making a return to the first team by turning out for the Arsenal under-21’s this week
Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky are going to take another step towards making a return to the first team by turning out for the Arsenal under-21’s this week, according to the Mirror.
Wilshere has yet to feature for the first team this entire season after struggling to overcome a fracture fibula that he suffered during pre-season on the eve of our Community Shield win over Chelsea.
However, the midfielder finally made his long-awaited playing comeback last Friday night after coming through 60 minutes unscathed for the youth side during a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.
It looks like Wilshere is now set to step-up his recovery even further with the Mirror claiming today that he’ll play for the under-21 side against Swansea City on Thursday night.
The newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger may then look to give the midfielder one more run-out for the youth side against West Brom next Monday and as long as he doesn’t suffer any setbacks, Wilshere will then be considered for first team selection.
If this all goes to plan, the 24-year-old could be back in the squad for our Premier League clash with West Brom at the Emirates on Thursday 21st or failing that, he should make the trip to Sunderland on Sunday 24th.
Wilshere’s return can’t come soon enough as we’ve sorely missed his presence in the squad this season, particularly while Santi Cazorla has also been on the sidelines with a serious knee injury in recent months.
Fingers crossed Jack can build up his fitness with the under-21’s over the next week and put himself in contention for a return to the first team later this month as he could then still play some part in our run-in.
In a double boost, the Mirror also claim that Rosicky will play for the under-21’s this Thursday as he continues to build his fitness having played just 15 minutes of first team football this season due to knee and thigh injuries.
