Paul Merson Offers His Prediction Ahead Of Manchester City vs Arsenal

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners head to Manchester for a game that’s going to play a decisive role in determining how the top four shapes up come the end of the season with both clubs vying for spots.

Arsenal are in the box seat as they currently sit third and hold a three point advantage over fourth-placed City so Arsene Wenger’s men can secure at least a top three finish with a win tomorrow.

However, a win for the Citizens would see them leapfrog Arsenal in to third spot due to their superior goal difference and put them in the driving seat for automatic qualification to the Champions League, so it really is all to play for.

Despite having home advantage, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson feels his former club have the edge this weekend as he believes City will be feeling the effects of their clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday night, and he’s tipping Arsenal to take home a crucial three points.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, he said:

I think Arsenal win this game. Man City will have a hangover, although I’ve never seen anything like that game at the Bernabeu. I had to watch the game and remind myself it was a Champions League semi-final. After 15 minutes, Sergio Aguero is getting the ball off the centre-half. I’ve never seen anything like it.

If there’s ever a chance for Arsenal to win at the Etihad again, this is the game. If they don’t win this game, you’d have to ask serious questions. Man City are there for the taking, all day long.

A win for the Gunners would secure third place and leave City’s top four hopes hanging in the balance, particularly if Manchester United beat Norwich this afternoon as they’d move to within just one point with a game in hand.
