The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are to announce the arrival of Granit Xhaka….
Arsenal are set to finally unveil Swiss international Granit Xhaka as our first big-money signing of the summer transfer window before Wednesday evening, according to the Mirror.
After weeks of speculation, it looked as though Xhaka was all-set to complete his move to the Emirates after the Telegraph reported on Friday that the midfielder had arrived at London Colney to undergo his medical.
We’d been in negotiations with his current club Borussia Monchengladbach for some time but it appeared a move was on after the newspaper said after we’d struck a £30m deal with the German outfit.
The transfer then moved a huge step closer after photos emerged on Saturday of Xhaka posing in the new Arsenal kit at his official photo-shoot so it seemed like it would only be a matter of hours before the deal was announced.
Fans have been patiently waiting but it looks like the wait is almost over as the Mirror reported last night that Arsenal are set to finally confirm Xhaka’s arrival with an announcement to be made before Wednesday evening.
The newspaper says the deal has been agreed, the medial has been passed and the promo photos have been taken and we rushed everything through so Xhaka could link-up with the Swiss squad over the weekend ahead of Euro 2016.
The club are now ready to announce Xhaka as our third biggest signing in history after Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez and it could spark a busy summer of transfer activity at the club as Arsene Wenger looks to rebuild following a disappointing campaign.
With Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini all leaving next month, we needed to bring in another midfielder and Xhaka will be an excellent addition as he’s known for his superb passing range as well as his leadership abilities.

Xhaka’s arrival will finally give us the depth we need in central midfield which means we should be able to cope when the inevitable injury crisis hits next season as we’ll also have Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny vying for starting spots.
