Arsenal To Table £33m Bid As Wenger Looks To Finally Sign Striker
Arsenal are set to table a fresh £33m bid for a prolific goalscorer as Arsene Wenger looks to finally get his hands on a new striker this summer.
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are set to table an improved offer for Alexandre Lacazette….
Arsenal are set to table an improved offer worth £33m for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette as Arsene Wenger finally looks to get his hands on a new striker, according to L’Equipe via the Mirror.
The boss has been trying to sign a new forward all summer and has been forced to turn to alternative targets after Jamie Vardy decided to snub a move to the Emirates in favour of staying with Leicester City.
Lacazette has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks and Wenger has already formalised his interest with Lyon confirming earlier this week that they’d rejected our opening £29.3m offer for the French international.
However, it looks like we’re set to test the Ligue 1 outfits resolve with an improved bid as the Mirror are citing French outlet L’Equipe as saying that Arsenal are ready to submit a fresh £33m offer for Lacazette’s signature.
It’s understood that figure is still below the £40m Lyon are looking for but it’s a step closer to their valuation and it shows that Wenger is serious about bringing Lacazette to north London this summer.
The 25-year-old has become one of the most prolific strikers in French football over the past few years and he’s scored 54 goals in his last two seasons alone, so he would certainly add a new goal threat in the final third if he was to join.
Lacazette is a fast, powerful striker who makes intelligent runs behind the defence so I’m sure the likes of Mesut Ozil would love to have him playing in the Arsenal team this season as we’ve lacked movement up front as times.
We’ll have to wait and see how Lyon respond to our reported new offer once it’s put on the table and although I think the French club will probably hold out for more, I can see us eventually getting a deal agreed.

Hopefully the transfer can get wrapped-up swiftly as with Olivier Giroud set to miss the opening weekend of the season, we’re facing the prospect of heading in to the Liverpool game with Theo Walcott as our only senior option through the middle.
