Premier League football returns this weekend and Liverpool kick off their campaign with a tough trip to the Emirates to take on Arsenal. Here is the team we think Jurgen Klopp will select:
Goalkeeper: With summer signing Loris Karius cruelly ruled out with a hand injury, Simon Mignolet is set to keep his place between the sticks.
Defence: Klopp has injury concerns in defence as Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez are unavailable but Dejan Lovren has been passed fit to start after picking up a minor knock last weekend.
Summer signing Ragnar Klaven has impressed in pre-season and is expected to make his competitive debut while Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno should start in the full-back positions.
Midfield: James Milner is a doubt with a heel injury that he picked up against Barcelona last weekend so Jordan Henderson is expected to line-up in midfield with Emre Can.
Lucas Leiva is out due to a knock but Marko Grujic could be on the bench after shaking off an ankle problem and should be joined among the substitutes by summer signing Gini Wijnaldum.
Attack: Klopp has hinted he won’t take any chances with Daniel Sturridge as the striker has been unable to train fully this week due to a niggling hip problem.
Divock Origi is pushing for a start up front but I think we’ll see Roberto Firmino given the nod for this game. Sadio Mane has made a huge impact since joining the club and should be given his competitive debut and join Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho in attack.
Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
BACK ARSENAL TO WIN AT 8/1 OR LIVERPOOL AT 12/1
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
