Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season with a disappointing 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon. Here are Gooner Mac’s player ratings from the game.
Cech 5/10 | Should have done better for the Lallana goal and won’t be happy conceding four in our opening game.
Bellerin 6/10 | Always keen to get forward down the right and made a great tackle to deny Firmino a certain goal.
Holding 5/10 | Made a solid start but his inexperience was exposed as Liverpool ripped us apart early in the second half.
Chambers 5.5/10 | Scored our third goal with a flicked header but was undone too often at the back.
Monreal 5/10 | Beaten far too easily by Mane on several occasions. Poor game from the usually reliable Spaniard.
Elneny 5.5/10| Did the simple stuff well but didn’t really influence the game too much. Tired after the break.
Coquelin 6/10 | Battled well against a lively Liverpool attack but lost control of the midfield when they took over after the break.
Ramsey 6/10 | Looked lively early on but faded badly before picking up a hamstring injury.
Iwobi 6/10 | Nice ball to set-up Walcott for the opener but didn’t see enough of him.
Walcott 6/10 | Well taken goal which made up for his poor penalty miss. Not involved enough though.
Sanchez 5/10 | Clearly not match fit and didn’t look comfortable playing up front on his own.
Subs:
Cazorla 6/10 | On for the injured Ramsey and added some fresh legs.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 6.5/10 | Great impact having scored our second to give us a chance of snatching a point.
