Wenger Confirms Perez & Mustafi Have Joined Arsenal After Completing Medicals
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi have joined Arsenal in a £52m double deal after completing their medicals
The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsene Wenger confirms Arsenal are on the verge of signing two new players….
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi have joined Arsenal after completing their medicals but paperwork will delay the official announcement until next week.
According to the Mirror, we made our move for Perez on Wednesday night after contacting Deportivo La Coruna to inform them we’re willing to meet the strikers £17m buy-out clause – hijacking Everton’s move for the player in the process.
Perez arrived in England on Thursday night and underwent his medical at London Colney on Friday afternoon with the newspaper saying the 27-year-old has agreed terms over a four-year deal.
After weeks of negotiations, the Telegraph reported on Thursday that we’d also finally agreed a structured deal which could rise to £35m with Valencia for the signing of Mustafi.
Wenger has been desperately trying to bring in another centre-back after losing Gabriel and Per Mertesacker to injury in pre-season and the German international emerged as our top target.
The 24-year-old also arrived in north London on Friday and underwent his medical ahead of signing a five-year contract with the club.
Wenger has confirmed that both Mustafi and Perez have now joined Arsenal after successfully completing their medical tests and the boss also appeared to suggest they will be our last two signings of the summer.
The boss is quoted as saying to Sky Sports News by TeamTalk:
“We have bought two players in Mustafi and Perez,”
“They will integrate into the team now and we will help them join the squad. We had to work very hard to get signings done. We have not got any plans for anyone else now.”
Wenger was speaking after our 3-1 victory at Watford this afternoon and he was then quoted by awaiting reporters as saying that the club are just finalising the paperwork and the official announcements will be made early next week.
