Arsenal Boss Offers Update After Key Man Picks Up Injury In Watford Win

Arsene Wenger has offered an update on the fitness of Nacho Monreal after the defender limped out of Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.
Monreal has established himself as Arsenal’s first choice left-back ahead of Kieran Gibbs over the past two seasons and he once again lined-up at the back against Watford yesterday.
However, the Spaniard was unable to complete the full ninety minutes as he was forced off and replaced by Gibbs in the 71st minute at Vicarage Road after suffering an apparent leg injury.
Fans were left praying it wasn’t anything serious as another long-term injury is the last thing we need right now and thankfully Wenger has eased those fears after confirming Monreal should be back in no time.
Speaking to Arsenal.com last night, Wenger revealed that the 30-year-old had just taken a kick and the injury isn’t thought to be serious.
Nacho Monreal has a kick but nothing major.
We now have a two week international break and as Monreal hasn’t been selected in the Spain squad, he’ll have plenty of time to recover and get himself ready to face Southampton at the Emirates on September 10th.
The good news on Monreal caps an excellent few days for the club as not only did we secure our first three points of the new season with a 3-1 win at Watford, but we’re set to splash out over £50m on two important signings.
Wenger confirmed after the game yesterday that German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi and Spanish striker Lucas Perez have completed their medicals and should be officially announced as Arsenal players over the next 48 hours.
