Teenage Prodigy Shuns Arsenal & United For Chelsea
It has been reported that Feynoord’s Nathan Ake has agreed to join Chelsea when he turns 16, although the blues have upset the Dutch club in the process.
Ake is one of the brightest prospects in Europe and has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United amongst others, but it seems the premiership champions have got one over on their rivals by snapping up the youngster.
Feyenoord’s sporting director Leo Beenhakker has hit out at Chelsea and Premier League clubs for the way they lure Europes elite youngsters to move to England. This comes after Chelsea representatives met with Ake’s parents and persuaded them to let their son join the Londoners. Beenhakker said:
“I’ve discussed this matter with Nathan and his parents. He told me that he really wanted to move to England and his parents were okay with his decision,” said Beenhakker to Algemeen Dagblad.
“I was impressed with Nathan’s determination at such a young age, but it’s obviously bad news for Feyenoord. We can’t do anything about it if a foreign club comes up to sign one of our youngsters.
“It’s driving me crazy that hot prospects are walking away from us like this. The Premier League clubs spoil the market with their behaviour. Other clubs in Europe aren’t doing this kind of thing, but the English sides just don’t care.”
