[Tweets] Man Utd Star Offers Injury Update Ahead Of Man City Game
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has offered an injury update ahead of Manchester United’s huge derby clash against against Manchester City this weekend.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has offered an injury update and says he still isn’t sure if he’ll be passed fit to play for Manchester United in the derby against Manchester City this weekend.
Mkhitaryan suffered a thigh injury during Armenia’s 3-0 friendly defeat against the Czech Republic last week and was forced off late in the first half following a clash in the middle of the park.
The 27-year-old was confirmed as having a minor thigh injury and was immediately ruled out for around 10 days making him a major doubt to play in the Manchester derby on Saturday lunchtime.
Mkhitaryan flew back to Manchester late last week to begin his rehabilitation at United’s Carrington training base as he faced a race against time to get himself fit to line-up against Pep Guardiola’s men at Old Trafford.
The Armenian skipper has now taken to Twitter to offer his followers an update and says that while he’s not sure whether he’ll be able to feature against City yet, he’s working hard to get himself fit as soon as possible.
He said on Twitter:
Not sure yet if I'll bit fit for the derby, but I'm motivated as ever to put all energy to be in great shape asap!! pic.twitter.com/n3QcXpv1k6

We’ll have to wait for another injury update from boss Jose Mourinho at his pre-match press conference later this week but I would be surprised if Mkhitaryan was to start against City this weekend.
The playmaker is yet to make his full debut following his move from Borussia Dortmund this summer and although he did put himself in the frame with a superb cameo appearance off the bench during the win over Hull City before the international break, I can’t see Mourinho handing him his first start in such a huge game – particularly now he’s carrying an injury.
