Man City Team News: Guardiola Confirms Trio Will Miss Tottenham Clash
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will be without three key players for their trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon
Manchester City will be looking to extend their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given ManCity.com a team news and injury update.
The Spanish coach confirmed that City will once again be without three key players for the game with Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany and Fabian Delph all missing the trip to the capital through injury.
De Bruyne suffered a hamstring injury during City’s 3-1 win at Swansea and was forced to miss the midweek Champions League draw at Celtic and he’ll watch from the sidelines against Tottenham on Sunday.
Kopmany also picked up a groin strain at the Liberty Stadium last week having only just made his latest comeback and the injury-plagued skipper remains out along with Delph who continues to nurse a muscular problem.
Guardiola says the upcoming international break will help the club get the trio fit but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be ready to face Everton and Barcelona next month.
The City boss is quoted as saying by the clubs website:
“We have ten days [after Spurs] which will help us – we need most of them back. The same with Delph. I don’t know – maybe two or three weeks they will be ready. I don’t know if they will be ready for Everton or for Barcelona – we’ll see next time.
“The injuries are not so, so tough as they seemed in the first impression. Usually a muscle injury is a month but we’re going to wait and see.”

Otherwise, the only other player who’ll miss the trip to Tottenham this weekend is Yaya Toure as the Ivory Coast midfielder continues to be frozen out of the first team following his bust-up with Guardiola.
