Arsenal Handed Major Injury Boost As Key Man Returns To Training
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost after a key man was able to return to full training yesterday following an injury scare. See details here
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost after Hector Bellerin eased fears he had picked up an injury after returning to training with the Spanish under-21’s, according to the Evening Standard.
After being overlooked by Julian Lopetegui’s senior squad for their World Cup qualifiers, Bellerin dropped down to the Spanish under-21 squad and started in their Euro 2017 qualifier in San Marino last week.
However, the full-back failed to complete the full ninety minutes after limping off with a suspected ankle injury following a heavy challenge during the final stages of Spain’s 3-0 victory.
The 21-year-old was unable to train on Thursday and Arsene Wenger was left sweating over the results of a scan that Bellerin undertook as the Spanish medical team sought to determine the full extent of the problem.
It looks like we can all breath a huge sigh of relief as the Evening Standard are reporting that Bellerin has returned to full training and is now back in contention to face Estonia on Monday night.
This is excellent news as Bellerin has been in outstanding form for Arsenal again during the early parts of this season and it would have been a huge blow had he been ruled out for any period of time.
Mathieu Debuchy has fallen out-of-favour and is badly lacking in match practice while Carl Jenkinson is also still working his way back to full fitness following a serious injury so we would have been lacking options at right-back without Bellerin.
However, it looks as though the injury was nothing serious and the youngster should be fit and available for selection when we take on Swansea at the Emirates after the international break.
