Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms Double Boost Ahead Of Liverpool Trip
Jose Mourinho has confirmed a double injury boost ahead of Monday night’s Premier League trip to north-west rivals Liverpool.
Premier League football returns from the international break and the big game sees Manchester United take on Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Portuguese coach was pleased to confirm that all of his players returned from the international break unscathed so United have no fresh injury concerns to worry about as they prepare to make the short trip to Anfield.
Mourinho also confirmed that Luke Shaw is fit and available for selection again after overcoming the injury that has kept him on the sidelines for the last five matches in all competitions.
Shaw was ruled out of England’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia but he was able to work on hit fitness at Carrington over the past two weeks and could now come back in to the side to face Liverpool on Monday.
In a double boost, Mourinho has also confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in contention after recovering from a niggling thigh injury that has hampered him over the past two months.
Mkhitaryan suffered the problem during the September international break and was withdrawn from duty with Armenia for their recent qualifiers to remain in Manchester and work on his fitness ahead of the Liverpool game.
It means that United have virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from with Phil Jones the only absentee with the defender continuing to nurse a serious knee ligament injury.
