Arsenal Star To Miss Spurs & Man Utd Games After Suffering ‘Significant’ Injury
Arsenal have been deal a fresh injury blow with the news that a striker will miss the Spurs and Man Utd games due to a significant injury.
Arsenal have been deal a fresh injury blow with the news that summer signing Lucas Perez has been ruled out for six weeks with an ankle ligament injury, according to the Guardian.
Perez has found first team football hard to come by following his £17m move from Deportivo La Coruña during the summer transfer window with the striker making just three starts and two substitute appearances so far.
The Spanish hitman was selected to line-up against Reading in the League Cup clash on Tuesday night and was keen to impress as he looked to force his way in to Arsene Wenger’s first team plans on a more consistent basis.
However, the 28-year-old went down clutching his ankle following a strong challenge from Danzell Gravenberch in the 72nd minute and eventually limped down the tunnel with the Arsenal physio having been replaced by Chris Willock during the 2-0 win.
It looks like the striker is now set for a spell on the sidelines as the Guardian claim that sources close to the player have now confirmed that Perez has sustained ‘significant’ ligament damage and is expected to miss around six week.
If accurate, it means Perez is now set to miss key games against Tottenham and Manchester United next month as well as our crunch Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The news will come as a huge blow to Arsenal as Danny Welbeck and Chuba Akpom are out until the New Year while Olivier Giroud is still working on his match fitness having yet to start a game this season so Wenger is now dangerously low on striking options.
Alexis Sanchez has been performing superbly through the middle so far this season but the Gunners would be screwed if anything was to happen to the Chilean superstar, particularly with key games against Spurs and United coming up over the next few weeks.
