Tottenham Suffer Huge Injury Blow To Key Man Ahead Of Arsenal Showdown
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of their huge north London derby against Arsenal this weekend. See full details here
Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out of Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen and remains a major doubt to face Arsenal this weekend, according to reports from Belgium.
Alderweireld has missed Tottenham’s last four matches in all competitions after limping off during the 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion two weeks ago with a knee injury.
It was initially feared the Belgian international may have damaged ligaments which would have seen him ruled out for several months but it was soon confirmed that the injury wasn’t serious.
The 27-year-old returned to light training last week and Mauricio Pochettino had hoped the centre-back would be able to make his return for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Leverkusen.
However, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur – who works for Belgian media outlet HLN – has taken to Twitter to claim that Alderweireld has been ruled out of the match at Wembley this week and is now considered a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal.
Terreur said:
