Sky Pundit Hammers Tottenham As He States His Prediction Ahead Of Arsenal Game
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Arsenal’s huge showdown against Tottenham this weekend. See what he’s had to say.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Arsenal’s huge showdown against Tottenham this weekend and he feels it could be a long afternoon for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Spurs head to the Emirates off the back of a poor run of form with Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley making it six games without a win in all competitions.
The loss has left Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League hanging in the balance while they also sit three points off joint leaders Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
Merson believes the performance in midweek was Tottenham’s worst since Pochettino took over and he feels another display like that on Sunday will result in an Arsenal victory.
The Gunners welcome their north London rivals to the Emirates in fine form having extended their unbeaten record to 15 games in all competitions with a 3-2 comeback win over Ludogorets on Tuesday night.
So Arsene Wenger’s men should be full of confidence and Merseon believes that Arsenal will be able to ease to a relatively comfortable win if they get at Spurs from the first minute this weekend.
Writing in his Sky Sports column, Merson said:
Arsenal v Tottenham (Sunday, 12pm)
If Tottenham play like they did in the Champions League in midweek then you can’t see anything but an Arsenal win. It was probably their worst-ever performance under Mauricio Pochettino. If Arsenal watched that they’ll be thinking they’ve just got to turn up and get the three points, but of course it doesn’t work like that.
That being said, though, I’m still going to go for the Gunners to win this game. If they’re at it straight away then I don’t see Tottenham being able to live with them. Form does go out the window for a game like this but six games without a win is a lot for Spurs and their confidence doesn’t look great.
Paul predicts: 3-1
We’ll have to wait and see whether Merson’s prediction proves accurate but if you fancy Arsenal to take all three points this weekend, then you can back them at enhanced odds of 7/1 —>
