Arsenal Suffer Huge Blow As Key Man Picks Up Calf Injury Ahead Of Man Utd Clash
Arsenal have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their showdown with Manchester United after Alexis Sanchez suffered a muscle injury while away with Chile
Arsenal have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their showdown with Manchester United after Alexis Sanchez suffered a calf injury while away with Chile, according to Sky Sports News.
Sanchez was once again called up by his country ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Uruguay but it looks as though the striker could be set to miss both matches.
The Gunners attacker was forced out of a training session at the Chilean training camp on Tuesday afternoon with Sky Sports claiming he was seen receiving treatment on a calf injury.
A statement by the Chile FA confirmed that Sanchez has suffered a ‘low grade’ muscle injury and will miss the upcoming clash with Colombia on Thursday before being further assessed ahead of their trip to Uruguay on November 15th:
“The medical corps of the Chilean national team informs the player Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle injury.” The Chilean FA said according to Sky Sports
“The athlete will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation, before the meeting of Chile and Uruguay.”
The injury doesn’t appear to be too serious but I’m sure Arsene Wenger will be eagerly awaiting an update on Sanchez’s condition as it would be a significant blow if the South American was ruled out, even for just a couple of weeks.
Arsenal face a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United immediately after the international break on November 19th and Sanchez must now be considered a doubt for that match.
The attacker may also miss Arsenal’s crucial Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain four days later where the north Londoners desperately need a positive result to help secure top spot in Group A.
