Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms Quartet Will Start Against Hull
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that these four players are set to return for Man Utd’s EFL Cup semi-final against Hull City.
Manchester United will be looking to take control of the tie when they entertain Hull City in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to reporters and he’s offered a team news update with the Portuguese coach confirming that he’s ready to freshen things up tomorrow.
Mourinho made wholesale changes to his starting eleven for Saturday’s comfortable 4-0 win over Reading in the third round of the FA Cup and the United boss is ready to recall his big-guns against Hull.
The so-called ‘Special One’ confirmed that those players who weren’t involved against Reading at the weekend will come back in to the side tomorrow as he looks to go one step closer to securing a final against Southampton or Liverpool.
Mourinho went on to name Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as examples of those players who’ll start against the Tigers tomorrow night.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by the Express after Saturday’s win:
“I play with the players that didn’t play today. To win it [the EFL Cup] we have to win three matches and we have Hull City, and we have Liverpool or Southampton, it’s not going to be easy.
“But I think the fact you are winning matches is good and you are not going to throw away an opportunity for that, so today I play with fresh players, I don’t want to put things in first-team or second-team, or first-choice or second-choice, today I play with fresh players.
“In the next match against Hull City we are going to play again with fresh players.
“So it’s easy to know our team – Zlatan, Pogba, Herrera, Valencia. The guys that didn’t play today.”
As well as the above four, the likes of David De Gea, Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are also expected to return to the starting eleven against Hull tomorrow evening.
However, one player who’s set to miss out is Marcos Rojo after the Argentinean international was forced off during the win over Reading on Saturday but his injury isn’t thought to be too serious.
