Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Open Talks To Sign Winger | Wenger Plots Striker Bid
Latest Arsenal transfer news: Today we’re believed to have opened talks over a deal to sign a winger while Arsene Wenger is also linked with a striker.
Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Lucas Moura and Alvaro Morata…
Arsenal open Moura talks
First up and the Express are carrying a report claiming that Arsenal have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign Lucas Moura as Arsene Wenger eyes potential replacements for Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean international is in the final 18 months of his contract and so far we’ve been unable to agree terms over an extension leading to intense speculation that the forward could be on the move at the end of the season.
Sanchez has been offered lucrative contracts from China while he’s also cut a frustrated figure at times in recent weeks after a string of disappointing results saw us fall out of the top four and eight points behind leaders Chelsea in the title race.
If we fail to convince Sanchez to sign an extension by the summer then we may have to cash-in and the Express claim that the club have already identified Moura as a potential replacement.
The newspaper says that talks have already been initiated and while Juventus are also understood to be in the running for the winger, Arsenal are supposedly confident of winning the race for Moura’s signature this summer.
The 24-year-old joined PSG in 2013 and he’s scored 37 goals and provided 42 assists in his 197 appearances so far, so his creativity would certainly be a real asset for Arsenal if we were able to get a deal agreed.
I think we can all agree that the priority should remain tying Sanchez down to a new deal but if that doesn’t happen then I’d love to see us bring in Moura as the Brazilian ace has the potential to be an excellent addition.
Arsenal renew Morata interest
Next up and the Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal have renewed their interest in Alvaro Morata as he looks to leave Real Madrid in search of regular first team football.
We were strongly linked with Morata back in the summer but missed out on his signature when Madrid triggered a buy-back clause in his contract which was agreed when they sold him to Juventus.
However, the 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu this season having only started six La Liga games so far and it looks as though he’s already itching for a move away from the Spanish giants.
The Telegraph are citing a report from Spanish outlet OK Diario that claims Morata is keen to secure regular football and Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in the striker this month.
The newspaper says that Wenger is willing to offer the striker more game-time and is now mulling over launching a formal bid for his signature before the end of the January transfer window.
I would take this report with a pinch of salt as I really don’t see Arsenal making any move for another striker this month considering Olivier Giroud has just signed a new contract while Danny Welbeck is also just returned to full fitness.

The only way I see us moving for Morata is in the summer if Sanchez fails to sign a new deal so I wouldn’t be getting your hopes up over seeing the Spanish international arriving at the Emirates any time soon.
