Arsenal & Man Utd Boost – Chief Confirms £68.5m Striker Deal Could Be Done
Arsenal and Man Utd have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Borussia Dortmund confirmed he could be sold for £68.5m
Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Borussia Dortmund appear to have named their price for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang….
Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Borussia Dortmund confirmed the striker could be sold for £68.5m, according to a report in the Mirror.
Aubameyang has developed in to one of the best strikers in Europe since replacing Robert Lewandowski as Dortmund’s main striker having scored 100 goals and provided a further 32 assists in his 165 appearances.
The 27-year-old has attracted plenty of interest in his services with the Mirror reporting last week that Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs keeping a close eye on the strikers situation ahead of potential summer swoops.
The Premier League giants have now been handed a major boost in their pursuit as Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted that they may be forced to cash-in if a club put an offer of £68.5m on the table.
He’s quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“We can never guarantee that a player will stay with Borussia Dortmund forever, but our strength is to always find new solutions.
“Auba was our alternative to ‘the world ending’ after Lewandowski’s departure. With an €80m [£68.5m] offer, I would be thinking about [club president] Reinhard Rauball and [sporting director] Michael Zorc – if we had one, we would have to get together with Pierre-Emerick [to discuss it].”
Both Arsenal and particularly Man Utd have the financial resources to pay that kind of money and obviously Aubameyang would be a sensational signing for either club if they were able to lure him to England.
The Gunners could be eyeing the Gabon international as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez with the Chilean superstars future at the Emirates in serious doubt as he approaches the final year of his contract with no sign of an extension being agreed.
However, United are going to need to bring in a marquee striker to take over from Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the 35-year-old can’t go on forever and Aubameyang is one of only a handful of players who has the ability to fill the Swede’s boots.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months and no doubt there will be plenty of interest from throughout Europe if Aubameyang does end up leaving Dortmund but I’d love to see him come to the Premier League this summer.
