Tottenham Team News: Pochettino Confirms Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Liverpool
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed a triple injury boost for Tottenham after giving a team news update ahead of their trip to Liverpool this weekend.
Tottenham will look to keep the pressure on at the top of the table when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Spurs boss was pleased to confirm a major injury boost with the news that Danny Rose’s knee injury isn’t as bad as first feared after he picked up the problem during Tottenham’s 0-0 draw at Sunderland 10 days ago.
It was initially thought the England international could miss as much as two months but the club received positive news when Rose was assessed by a specialist this week.
The Argentinean coach refused to put a time-scale on the full-backs recovery but insists the injury isn’t a big issue – although it will be enough to keep Rose out of this weekend’s trip to Merseyside.
However, Kieran Trippier could be back in the squad as he looks to recover from a hip injury that’s kept him out in recent weeks while Pochettino also had a positive update on Jan Vertonghen.
The centre-back has been out since damaging ankle ligaments almost a month ago but the Spurs boss says he’s recovering well and could be back in training next week.
Pochettino also gave the latest on Erik Lamela as the Argentinean international continues to work his way back to full fitness following three months out with a hip injury.
The 24-year-old spent time rehabilitating with his old club Roma last month and Poch says he’s taking his recovery step by step but like all the injured players, Lamela is remaining positive.
