Arsenal Join Chelsea & Man Utd In Race To Sign £40m Ligue 1 Star
Arsenal are ready to battle-it-out with Chelsea and Manchester United over the signing of Monaco’s £40m midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Arsenal join Chelsea & Man Utd in the race for Tiemoue Bakayoko…
Arsenal are ready to battle-it-out with Chelsea and Manchester United over the signing of Monaco’s £40m midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Bakayoko has developed in to one of the most highly-rated midfielders in French football since establishing himself as a first team regular at Monaco following his move from Rennes in 2014.
The 22-year-old has excelled during his 34 appearances so far this season to help Leonardo Jardim’s side maintain their position at the top of Ligue 1 while he put in a solid display during Monaco’s 5-3 thriller with Manchester City on Tuesday night.
The French under-21 international’s performances have led to plenty of interest from the Premier League with the Mirror citing a report from the Daily Star that claims Arsenal have now joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign the midfielder this summer.
Bakayoko is approaching the final two years of his contract but it seems like Monaco are still planning to play hardball as the newspaper says they’ll demand a fee in the region of £40m for his signature.
Without the injured Santi Cazorla – who’s been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury – Arsene Wenger has struggled to find the right balance in the middle of the park this season so it would be no surprise to see the north Londoners strengthen their options this summer with Bakayoko seemingly on their radar.
However, Chelsea and United will provide stiff competition as both clubs are expected to bring in midfield reinforcements at the end of the season and they have the financial muscle to compete with Arsenal in the market.

It’s certainly gearing up to be an interesting transfer battle between three of England’s most powerful clubs and I think Bakayoko would be an excellent signing if one of them are able to get a deal agreed for his signature.
