Arsenal Plotting Move For £60m Liverpool Target To Replace Sanchez
Arsenal are plotting a move for £60m-rated Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette as the north Londoners prepare for life without Alexis Sanchez next season
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with Alexandre Lacazette….
Arsenal are plotting a move for £60m-rated Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette as the north Londoners prepare for life without Alexis Sanchez next season, according to the Mirror.
Sanchez is approaching the final year of his contract at the Emirates and is no closer to signing an extension with the Gunners struggling to match his demands both financially and on the pitch.
The Chilean international wants to win major trophies and Arsenal have once again fallen short this season while they are refusing to pay him the £250,000-a-week he’s reportedly asking for.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal are now resigned to losing Sanchez this summer after he made it clear to team mates that he’ll be off at the end of the season, with Juventus or PSG his most likely destination.
Despite doubts over his own future at the Emirates, it appears Arsene Wenger is still making plans for next season as the newspaper says he’s identified Lacazette as his prime target to replace Sanchez.
The Lyon hitman was linked with a move to north London last summer but a move failed to materialise and Lacazette has enjoyed another prolific campaign in Ligue 1 having scored 27 goals in his 31 appearances in all competitions.
He’d certainly replace Sanchez’s goal threat in the Arsenal team if they were able to get a deal agreed but they’ll face stiff competition with the Mirror saying that Liverpool are also eyeing the striker.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to strengthen his squad this summer with a top marksman on the agenda and Lacazette is likely to be viewed as a replacement for Daniel Sturridge – who’s tipped to leave Anfield at the end of the season.
After refusing to sell last summer, the report indicates that Lyon are now willing to cash-in on Lacazette this summer but are expected to demand the full value of his £60m buyout fee.
That would represent a record figure for both Arsenal and Liverpool so we’ll have to wait and see whether either club will be prepared to match that asking price, but I think Lacazette would be an excellent signing for any club.

The 25-year-old has proven himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in European football over the past three years so I’d love to see him plying his trade here in the Premier League next season.
