Tottenham Team News: Key Man Ruled Out Until April + Concerning Attacker Update
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that a key man won’t return until April while he’s also given an update on an attacker ahead of Tottenham’s game with Millwall
Tottenham Hotspur will look to book their place at Wembley when they take on Millwall in the quarter finals of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Spurs boss has confirmed that Danny Rose is still on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a knee injury that he suffered during the 0-0 draw with Sunderland in late January.
Rose is recovering well and is on schedule during his rehabilitation programme and Pochettino says the England international is expected to be available again at some point next month.
With the 26-year-old still on the treatment table it means Ben Davies is expected to continue at left-back when Millwall come to White Hart Lane this weekend.
Pochettino also gave a concerning update on Erik Lamela as the Spurs coach has admitted he still has no idea when the Argentinean attacker will be ready to make his long-awaited comeback.
Lamela has been out since October after struggling to overcome a niggling hip injury and he’s still feeling pain when he does train with the rest of the squad.
When asked for a possible timeframe on Lamela’s return, Pochettino admitted that he has no idea when the attacker will be available again and even suggested it could be next season until the 25-year-old is fully recovered.
Poch told reporters:

#thfc Pochettino still can’t give timeframe on Lamela: “I can’t say one week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, one month or maybe next season, I dont know”

#thfc Pochettino: “Sometimes he’s involved from the beginning in the warm-up with the team. Sometimes he feels pain and we change the plan.”

The good news for Tottenham is that Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen all came through last week’s win over Everton unscathed after shaking off minor injuries, so the trio should be fit to face Millwall.
