Monaco hitman Kylian Mbappe has played down reports linking him with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Mbappe came through the youth ranks at Monaco and has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football since bursting on to the first team scene this season.
The 18-year-old is in a rich vein of form right now and took his tally to 19 goals and 11 assists in his 32 appearances with a brace and assist during Monaco’s win over Caen on Sunday night.
The French youngster has understandably attracted interest from throughout Europe and the Mirror claim that Arsenal and Manchester United are leading the race for his signature this summer.
Speculation over a potential move to the Premier League has steadily intensified in recent weeks, however, Mbappe has now spoken out about the rumours and insists he’s not paying any attention to what’s written in the newspapers.
The teenager has scored 11 goals in his last 9 games and has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry but the modest striker doesn’t think he’s doing anything special.
When quizzed about reports linking him with the likes of Arsenal and United, Mbappe is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“Sorry, but I do not look at what the English press say. I remain very calm about the attention I get.
“I get up in the morning and I go to practice like everyone else. I try to work to improve myself every day and I try to do on the pitch what I do during the training sessions.”
“I would not say that what I do is extraordinary. I would just say that I am able to do what I know best. I would not say it’s extraordinary.
“Extraordinary is a player who can score 60 goals. There are not a lot. Otherwise I think we would overuse the term. I would not say it’s amazing but I’m on a good run.”
There is no doubt that Mbappe is destined to become one of the best strikers in the world as he has everything you want in a top front-man so it would be great to see him following Henry to ply his trade in England one day.
Arsenal could be in the market for a new striker with Alexis Sanchez tipped to leave at the end of the season and Arsene Wenger has previously confirmed his interest in Mbappe after trying to sign him last summer.
United are also expected to bring in another forward this summer with Wayne Rooney likely to leave and Zlatan Ibrahimovic yet to sign a new deal and the Manchester giants are also seemingly eyeing Mbappe.

However, it’s not going to be easy to lure him away from Monaco and the Ligue 1 club will no doubt demand a huge fee for his signature, so Arsenal and United better be prepared to dig deep if they want to sign him this summer.
