Man Utd vs Everton Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Man Utd take on Everton at Old Trafford this evening. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester United will be looking to continue their push for the top four when they take on Everton at Old Trafford this evening.
United were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home by West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon so Jose Mourinho will be desperate to get back to winning ways tonight.
The good news for United is that they didn’t lose too much ground in the race for Champions League qualification following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
The weekend results have left United sitting fifth in the Premier League table and five points behind fourth-placed City with a game in hand so the Red Devils will be hoping to close the gap to just two points ahead of City’s trip to Chelsea tomorrow night.
Everton head to Old Trafford off the back of a 3-1 defeat to Mersey rivals Liverpool but they are still just three points behind United in seventh place so Ronald Koeman will be looking for a win to move level on points with the hosts.
Betting Tips
United are the 8/13 favourites with the bookmakers such as NetBet but that won’t be too attractive for most bettors. If you want a little more value then I like the look of the hosts winning 2-1 at 15/2 while if we also throw in Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score first then we get very tempting odds of 14/1. f
Team News
Luke Shaw is back in the United squad after holding clear the air talks with Mourinho but the full-back is still expected to be named among the substitutes this evening.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic should get a recall up front after completing his three-game suspension so Marcus Rashford could drop out after miss-firing against West Brom at the weekend.
Ander Herrera is also set to come back in to the side after serving his two-game ban while Paul Pogba could be back in contention after returning to training following a hamstring injury.
However, Juan Mata is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing groin surgery so he joins Phil Jones and Chris Smalling on the treatment table.
Everton will continue to be without Morgan Schneiderlin due to a calf injury while the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Seamus Coleman, Ramiro Funes Mori are also still out.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 Everton: United lacked a cutting edge against the Baggies but the return of Ibrahimovic should help solve that problem. The Manchester giants have lost just one of their last 23 league games at home to Everton and while I do think the Toffees will pose some problems tonight, I still expect Mourinho’s men to secure a vital three points.
