Liverpool’s two Brazilian attackers came off the bench to turn this game on it’s head as the Reds came from behind to beat Stoke City 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.
Stoke started well and after seeing a goal correctly ruled out for offside, the hosts eventually opened the scoring when Jon Walters headed home from close range to make it 1-0 shortly before half time.
Jurgen Klopp introduced Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino at the break and it turned out to be a masterstroke as both players got on the score-sheet during the second forty-five minutes.
First Coutinho fired home the equaliser with a neat finish in the 70th minute before Firmino raced clear to lash home a stunning volley to make it 2-1 just two minutes later to complete the turn-around.
Liverpool held on to secure a huge win that sees them maintain their third place position in the Premier League table and extend their lead over fifth-placed Arsenal to nine points – although the Gunners have three games in hand.
