The agent of Franck Kessie has confirmed that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing the Atalanta midfielder this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Kessie joined Atalanta in 2015 and after enjoying a year on loan at Cesena, he’s developed in to one of the best midfielders in Italian football this season having established himself as a key part of Gian Peiro Gasperini’s starting eleven.
Despite being a defensive midfielder, the 20-year-old has scored 7 goals and provided a further 4 assists in his 25 appearances so far to help Atalanta push for Europa League qualification next year.
Kessie’s form has caught the attention of several clubs throughout Europe with a number of Premier League clubs being linked in recent months and his agent, George Antangana, has now named Arsenal and Liverpool as two of the interested parties.
However, the duo will face stiff competition for the midfielder’s signature as Antangana says Manchester City are also an option while Roma appear to be the current favourites to secure his services at the end of the season.
He’s quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“I must admit that Roma have the advantage for Kessie, but we haven’t closed a deal yet because there are other top clubs interested who continue calling me. There are many overseas clubs interested in him.
“Manchester City, where his friend Yaya Toure plays in the same role. Liverpool, where their manager Jurgen Klopp knows how to help young players develop. Then there’s Arsenal, whose manager is very close to French-speaking players.”
Despite continued doubts over his future, Arsene Wenger is still making plans for next season and a new central midfielder is expected to be on the cards with Santi Cazorla plagued by a serious Achilles injury while Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin have struggled for form this season.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is also likely to be in the market for another midfielder to help provide competition for the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can, especially if the Reds secure a return to the Champions League.

Kessie would be a superb signing for either club if Arsenal or Liverpool were able to win the race for his signature, however, it looks as though they still have a bit of work to do if they are to lure the Ivory Coast international to England.
