£100m TORRES LINED UP

By Football Talk

According to reports Manchester City are believed to be lining up a staggering £100m offer for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. If accepted the transfer would set a new world record smashing the £80m Manchester United received for Christiano Ronaldo, but more importantly it would once again outline the financial power that Manchester City possess.

It is believed that City are hoping to take advantage of the cash crisis at Anfield and are confident that the Liverpool owners are in no position to refuse such an amount for one player. City would then be prepared to make Torres the highest paid player in the Premier League by offering £200,000 a week. However the deal would only be viable if City manage to replace Liverpool  in the top four this year.

I am sure stories similar to this will be the norm from now on with City being linked to every world class player due to their financial status. But it will take something special to make Torres leave Anfield, it’s just whether he feels that  £200,000 per week is too ‘special’ to turn down!

Is there any truth in this story or is it just paper talk? Would Torres leave if Liverpool miss out on the Champions League?
