Man City vs Man Utd: Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Man City take on Man Utd at the Etihad this evening. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester City will look to cement their position in the top four when they take on Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium tonight.
This game is going to have a huge say on who finishes in the Champions League qualifying positions as just one point separates the two clubs with six games remaining.
City are in the driving seat as they occupy fourth spot in the Premier League table and are just two points adrift of third-placed Liverpool with two games in hand.
However, United closed the gap to just one point with victory at Burnley last weekend while Arsenal are now a further three points behind following their win over Leicester last night so it’s still all to play for in the race for the top four.
City will be looking to bounce back following their disappointing FA Cup semi-final defeat to the Gunners on Sunday while United will be hoping to maintain their 23-game unbeaten run in the league.
Team News
City are expected to be without David Silva as the playmaker was forced off with a hamstring injury against Arsenal so Raheem Sterling could be set for a recall.
Sergio Aguero has been declared fit after picking up a knock last weekend while Gabriel Jesus is set to return to the squad after recovering from a broken foot, but a place on the bench is probably the best he can hope for.
John Stones and Bacary Sagna are still doubts with muscle injuries but Ilkay Gundogan remains out with a long-term knee injury.
United will be without Paul Pogba after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury against Burnley so Michael Carrick is expected to be recalled.
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are still nursing knee and foot injuries so Mourinho has little option but to stick with Daley Blind alongside Eric Bailly at the back.
Antonio Valencia and Marcus Rashford are set for recalls but Juan Mata, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo are all out with long-term injuries.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man City 2-1 Man Utd: City were unlucky in their FA Cup semi-final while United have been grinding out results in recent weeks. Their injury problems may start to catch up with them following a busy period and I have a feeling City are going to edge this one. City’s attack is full of quality and I think United’s injury problems at the back will leave them exposed.
