Watford vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Liverpool take on Watford at Vicarage Road this evening. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score
Liverpool will be looking to cement their position in the top four when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road this evening.
It was the perfect Sunday for the Reds as all their rivals dropped points with both Manchester United and Manchester City drawing while Arsenal lost away to Tottenham Hotspur.
It means Liverpool remain third in the table on goal difference from City while they can extend their lead on fifth placed United to four points with a win tonight.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will take on a Watford side that have virtually secured safety for another season after reaching the all-important 40 point mark with a win over Swansea two weeks ago.
Therefore, the Cottagers have very little left to play for but boss Walter Mazzarri will be demanding his players remain focussed and bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Hull City.
Team News
Liverpool are set to welcome Adam Lallana back in to the squad after he returned to full training having recovered from a thigh injury that’s kept him out for over five weeks.
The midfielder is lacking match fitness but Klopp may be tempted to throw him straight back in to action with Jordan Henderson still nursing a foot injury.
Sadio Mane won’t play again this season due to a serious knee injury but Daniel Sturridge could return to the squad after recovering from a hip complaint.
Watford defender Craig Cathcart is a doubt with a knee problem while Younes Kaboul (hamstring), Roberto Pereyra (knee) and forward Mauro Zarate (anterior cruciate ligament) all remain sidelined.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Watford 1-2 Liverpool: Watford won this fixture 3-0 last season but they were thrashed 6-1 at Anfield back in November and have lost five of their last six games against Liverpool. Klopp’s men have an excellent chance to tighten their grip on the top four and it’s an opportunity they simply have to take, so I’m backing the Merseysiders to edge it 2-1.
