Manchester United and Liverpool are preparing £25m bids for Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas this summer, according to a report by talkSPORT.
Fabregas angered Arsenal fans after joining Chelsea from boyhood club Barcelona in 2014 and played a key role in helping the Blues win the Premier League title that season.
However, the Spanish international has fallen out-of-favour this campaign with new boss Antonio Conte opting for Nemanja Matic alongside N’Golo Kante, which has restricted Fabregas to just 10 league starts.
It’s led to speculation that the midfielder – who turns 30 tomorrow – will seek a new challenge this summer and it looks as though he will have offers to remain in England.
That’s because talkSPORT are citing a report from The Sun that claims Man Utd and Liverpool are ready to do-battle over Fabregas’s signature at the end of the season.
Italian giants AC Milan have also been heavily linked with the Spaniard but the newspaper report indicates that both United and Liverpool are set to test Chelsea’s resolve with £25m bids.
United boss Jose Mourinho was the man to take Fabregas to Stamford Bridge three years ago and it looks like the Portuguese coach is now hoping to be reunited at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is gearing up for a busy summer as he looks to turn United back in to genuine title contenders and a new central midfielder is needed with Michael Carrick set to leave the club when his contract expires in June.
Jurgen Klopp is also expected to be extremely active this summer and the Reds boss needs to strengthen his midfield options ahead of Liverpool’s expected return to the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be prepared to do business with domestic rivals but you’d assume the west Londoners would rather sell Fabregas abroad if he does push for a move this summer.

However, that won’t stop the likes of United or Liverpool from trying their luck and it’s going to be interesting to see how things develop over the coming months but I think Fabregas would be a superb buy for either club if they could get a deal agreed.
