Arsenal are ready to launch a £20m swoop for Mario Lemina and the Juventus midfielder is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Arsene Wenger is expected to sign a new deal at the Emirates and oversee a busy summer of transfer activity with a new central midfielder believed to be a priority for the Frenchman.
Several names have been linked with a move to north London in recent weeks but the Evening Standard claim that Wenger has identified Lemina as a key target.
The 23-year-old joined Juve on a permanent deal last summer after initially being on loan from Marseille but the midfielder has struggled to establish himself in Max Allegri’s first team plans.
The Gabon international is highly rated in Italy and is expected to have a huge future ahead of him but Lemina has made just 8 Serie A starts so far this season so it’s no wonder he’s being linked with a move away in search of regular football.
The newspaper report says Arsenal are now lining-up a swoop for the £20m-rated midfielder and Juventus are understood to be willing to do business given he’s not considered an important first team player.
We aren’t the only club in the running to sign Lemina as the Evening Standard claim that Roma and Schalke are also keen but the player is believed to be open to the idea of moving to the Emirates and personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue.
Lemina is a dynamic central midfielder who has been likened to Paul Pogba so he would be a hugely exciting addition to the squad if we were successful in getting a deal agreed with Juventus.
However, his arrival would cast further doubt over the future of Jack Wilshere as the 25-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract and so far talks are yet to be opened over an extension.

Wilshere saw a promising loan spell at Bournemouth end prematurely due to another fractured leg so it would be difficult to see where he would fit in to Wenger’s plans if Lemina was to join this summer.
