Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are ready to make their move for Alexandre Lacazette…
Manchester United are set to launch a move for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette with the £50m-rated striker expected to leave Lyon this summer, according to the Mirror.
Lacazette enhanced his reputation as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe after scoring 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season to continue a trend of netting almost a goal a game over the past three years.
The French international’s form has attracted plenty of interest ahead of the summer window and he seemed destined for a big-money move to Atletico Madrid after reaching a verbal agreement with the Spaniards.
However, a move to the Vicente Calderon is now highly unlikely after Atletico’s appeal against their transfer ban was rejected meaning they can’t register any new players until January 2018.
The ruling all-but ended any hopes United had of signing Antoine Griezmann so the Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho is now ready to turn his attention to landing Lacazette instead.
The United boss is on the look-out for a new frontman after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a serious knee ligament injury and Lacazette would certainly provide a real threat in front of goal if he was to agree a move to Old Trafford.
United aren’t the only club interested as the Mirror says Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen to lure Lacazette to England but Mourinho is ready to steal a march on his rivals with a move for the £50m-rated hitman.
Liverpool are expected to bring in a top class striker this summer ahead of their return to the Champions League with Daniel Sturridge tipped to leave and Lacazette would be a good fit for the Merseysiders.
Arsenal are also in the market for a new forward and Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old but the Gunners aren’t able to offer Lacazette the Champions League football he desires.

That could leave United and Liverpool to battle-it-out over the Frenchman’s signature this summer and I think Lacazette would be an excellent signing for either club if they could get a deal agreed with Lyon.
