Arsenal are ready to smash the world transfer record with a renewed £95m offer for Manchester United target Kylian Mbappe, according to the Express.
Arsene Wenger is hoping to make a real statement of intent in the market this summer by signing one of the world’s hottest properties after signing a new two-year contract at the Emirates last week.
French outlet L’Equipe reported on Friday that Arsenal had submitted a sensational £87m (€100m) bid for Mbappe which was immediately knocked back by Monaco.
However, the Express claim today that Wenger is now ready to go back in with a renewed offer worth £95m which would represent a new world record – smashing the £89m Man Utd paid for Paul Pogba last summer.
The newspaper says Monaco have already rejected £105m from Real Madrid but Arsenal’s fresh offer would include a more appealing payment structure that would see a higher percentage of the fee paid up front.
It remains to be seen how the Ligue 1 champions will respond once the Gunners table this reported bid but it would obviously be a major coup if Wenger could win the race to sign Mbappe this summer as he’s become one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
The 18-year-old has just come of the back of a breakthrough campaign that saw him score 26 goals and provide a further 14 assists to help Monaco win the Ligue 1 title and his form has attracted interest from several top clubs.
As well as Madrid, the Express claim that Man Utd are among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing the French international as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in a world class striker having lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, it looks as though Arsenal are ready to steal a march on their rivals with another mega offer and Wenger hopes the lure of regular first team football will be enough to persuade Mbappe to move to north London.
At Arsenal, the teenager would be the main man up front but he would face stiff competition at a club like Madrid and it would be damaging to his development if Mbappe isn’t playing regularly at this stage of his career.

There is a long way to go before the youngsters future is resolved but I’d love to see Mbappe come to the Premier League this summer so hopefully Arsenal or United are able to win the race for his signature.
