Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool step-up their interest in Alexandre Lacazette….
Liverpool are set to steal a march on Arsenal and Manchester United by holding talks with the agent of Alexandre Lacazette over a potential £50m from Lyon, according to the Express.
Lacazette has forged a reputation as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe after netting 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season and his form has attracted interest from several top clubs.
Liverpool, Arsenal and United have all been linked with the French international this summer but it seemed he was destined for a move to Atletico Madrid after reportedly agreeing terms with Diego Simeone’s side.
However, the English trio were handed a boost last week after Atletico’s appeal against their transfer ban was rejected meaning the Spaniard’s can’t register any new players until January 2018.
The Mirror reported on Friday that United had turned their attention to Lacazette after Antoine Griezmann decided to stay at the Vicente Calderon following the news regarding their transfer ban.
Jose Mourinho desperately needs to sign a top class striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it appears Lacazette is one of several names under consideration by the Manchester giants.
Arsenal are also in the market for a new frontman as Arsene Wenger tries to build a squad capable of putting in a genuine title challenge next season and the French coach is a long-term admirer of Lacazette.
However, the Express claim that Liverpool are now ready to steal a march on Arsenal and United after arranging talks with the 26-year-old’s agent next week to discuss a move to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign a top class striker to replace Daniel Sturridge – who’s expected to leave this summer – and the newspaper says Lacazette is now the German coaches primary target.
The Merseysiders are able to offer the Lyon hitman the Champions League football he desires while they’d also be able to guarantee him regular first team football so a move to Anfield could appeal to Lacazette.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I’m sure Arsenal and United won’t give up without a fight as Lacazette would be an excellent addition for any of the three English giants vying for his signature.
