Arsenal Steal March On Liverpool & Man Utd After Opening Talks To Sign £52m Hitman
Arsenal have stolen a march on Liverpool and Manchester United after opening talks with Lyon over the signing of £52m striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Alexandre Lacazette…
Arsenal have stolen a march on Liverpool and Manchester United after opening talks with Lyon over the signing of £52m-rated striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to beIN Sports via the Metro.
Lacazette has developed in to one of the most prolific strikers in Europe in recent years and enhanced that reputation after scoring 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season.
That kind of form has led to attention from the Premier League with the Metro claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all expressed their interest in signing the French international.
L’Equipe [via the Metro] reported recently that Lacazette may favour a move to Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho identifying the 26-year-old as an alternative target after missing out on Antoine Griezmann.
Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for a top class striker as the Reds look to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and Champions League next season and the Merseysiders were reportedly ready to hold talks with Lacazette’s agent this week.
However, it looks as though Arsenal have stolen a march on their rivals as the Metro are citing a report from beIN Sport that claims the Gunners have now opened formal negotiations with Lyon over a deal to sign Lacazette.
Arsene Wenger desperately needs to sign a world class forward this summer to appease disgruntled fans after Arsenal missed out on the top four and the Frenchman has seemingly renewed his interest in Lacazette after missing out last summer.
The Metro suggest Lyon are willing to do business at around £52m, which seems like a reasonable fee in today’s market for a player that is as prolific as Lacazette has been in recent years.
I’m sure Liverpool and United won’t give up without a fight and the English trio were handed a boost after Lacazette described coming to the Premier League as an ‘interesting option’.

When asked if he’ll join an English club this summer, the French international is quoted as saying today by the Independent:
“That could be an interesting option, it is a great league with interesting teams,”
“For the moment, those are only rumours. I will wait until the end of the international stint with France before taking my decision.”
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop as I’m sure there will be plenty more twists and turns over the coming weeks but I’d love to see Lacazette come to the Premier League as I think he’d be a superb addition to any of the clubs being linked.
