Barcelona are ready to launch an improved £90m bid for Philippe Coutinho after the attacker told Liverpool he wants to move to the Nou Camp this summer, according to various reports today.
Coutinho has become a vital player for Liverpool since joining the club from Inter Milan in 2013 and he committed his future to Anfield after signing a new five-year contract earlier this year.
However, the 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Barca after the Catalan giants identified him as a potential replacement for Neymar following his sensational world record move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Journalist Graeme Bailly, who’s worked for a number of newspapers, has written in his column for The Gambling Times today that Coutinho has now made it clear to the Liverpool hierarchy that he wants to join Barcelona.
Sky Sports News are also reporting that sources close to Coutinho say the attacker would like to move to the Nou Camp as long as a deal can be done amicably between the two clubs.
The news outlet claims Barca haven’t contacted Liverpool since their opening £72m bid was rejected almost three weeks ago but it looks as though that will change now that Coutinho has informed the Merseysiders of his desire to leave.
The Gambling Times say Barcelona are now poised to launch an improved offer worth £90m this week but they may have to pay upwards of £100m in order to persuade Liverpool to sell.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate not to lose one of his key players and it’s suggested in the report that the Reds remain confident of keeping hold of Coutinho past this summer, but it looks like their resolve is going to be severely tested over the next few weeks.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it would be a massive blow to Liverpool if they were to lose Coutinho and it would be a huge step backwards for the club as they prepare for their return to the Champions League.
