Man Utd vs West Ham Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Manchester United take on West Ham at Old Trafford tomorrow. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score
Manchester United kick-off their new Premier League season when they entertain West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
It was a disappointing first season in the league for Jose Mourinho as United finished sixth last year but they did win the Europa League to book their place in the Champions League.
Mourinho will be desperate to mount a serious title bid this season and he’s spent big money to sign Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof so he’ll be looking to get off to a positive start tomorrow.
However, United will be up against a West Ham side who’ve also spent well this summer as they’ve snapped-up Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and former United striker Javier Hernandez so I’m expecting a tough game.
Team news
United will be without Luke Shaw as they defender continues to recover from a foot injury while Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo are also long-term absentees.
Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are back in contention after missing the Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid last week through suspension and Mourinho has no fresh injury worries to contend with.
The Portuguese boss started with a back three against Madrid but he could revert to a traditional flat back four tomorrow as Matic, Lindelof and Lukaku get set to make their league debuts.
West Ham should have Aaron Cresswell available for selection while Mark Noble has also overcome a minor toe injury but Michail Antonio has been ruled out with a hamstring problem.
Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Cheikhou Kouyate are all out while Manuel Lanzini will face a late test but Hernandez, Hart, Zabaleta and Arnoutovic are set to make their debuts.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 West Ham: The Hammers have a surprisingly good recent record against United as they’ve lost just one of their last five league games but they haven’t won at Old Trafford since 2007. United also have the best opening day record of any Premier League team while West Ham have the worst so this should only go one way. I do think it will be a decent game but expect the hosts to edge it.
