Man Utd Handed Huge Boost As Key Man Looks Set For Early Injury Return
Manchester United’s title hopes are set to be handed a major boost with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on course to making an early return from injury
Manchester United’s title hopes are set to be handed a major boost with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on course to make an early return from injury, according to the Independent.
Ibrahimovic has been on the sidelines since suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury during United’s Europa League quarter-final win over Anderlecht back in April.
The injury was so serious that there were initial fears the 35-year-old’s career may have been over but Ibrahimovic was always confident of making a full recovery despite being ruled out for at least nine months.
The Swedish legend has been making excellent progress with his rehabilitation which persuaded United chiefs to hand the striker a new one-year contract last month.
Jose Mourinho was planning to have Ibrahimovic available for selection during the early stages of 2018 and left him out of their squad for the group stages of the Champions League.
However, it looks like Zlatan is on course to making a swift return to action as the Independent claim the striker could be back in contention for first team duty as early as November.
The newspaper says Ibrahimovic is continuing to make impressive strides in his rehabilitation programme and his superb physical condition is understood to have played a key role in the player making such a speedy recovery.
This news will come as a major boost to United as although Ibrahimovic won’t be eligible to play in Europe until 2018, he will be available to play domestically and he’ll be another world class option for Mourinho.
Romelu Lukaku is enjoying a sensational start to life at Old Trafford following his summer move from Everton but the Belgian international is going to need a rest at some point and it looks like Mourinho will be able to call upon Ibrahimovic sooner than expected.
