Arsenal Handed Quadruple Injury Boost Ahead Of Watford Trip
Arsenal have been handed a quadruple injury boost with Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck all expected to make the trip to Watford
Arsenal have been handed a quadruple injury boost with Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck all expected to be available for the trip to Watford this weekend, according to the Telegraph.
Koscielny has missed Arsenal’s last two matches against BATE Borisov and Brighton after aggravating a long-standing Achilles problem during the win over West Brom two weeks ago.
The defender also sat out France’s World Cup qualifiers during the international break and there were fears the 32-year-old would be forced to miss Saturday’s trip to Watford.
However, the Telegraph claim that although Koscielny is still not back in full training yet, the centre-back is due to rejoin the main group over the coming days and be in contention to start at Vicarage Road.
The news will come as a huge boost to Arsene Wenger as Shkodran Mustafi looks set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury while playing for Germany during the international break.
With Koscielny now expected to feature this weekend and Nacho Monreal certain to keep his place, the boss will have to decide between Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding for the final spot in the back three.
There is also positive news regarding Kolasinac as the newspaper says the full-back will be available for selection against Watford despite being withdrawn at half-time during Bosnia’s 2-1 win over Estonia last night.
The Telegraph also claims that Ozil is back in contention to return to the side on Saturday after returning to full training having missed the last four games with a knee injury.
In a quadruple boost for Arsenal, the paper says Welbeck is also in full training again and could be back in the squad this weekend after recovering from a groin problem.
Welbeck made an excellent start to the new season having scored 3 goals in his first 5 appearances but his progress was halted after he picked up an untimely groin problem against Chelsea last month.
However, he’s now back in contention and will be pushing the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez for a starting spot at Vicarage Road this weekend.
