Raheem Sterling scored twice as Manchester City extended their winning streak to 16 games with a 4-1 victory over Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium this evening.
City started brightly and opened the scoring in the 14th minute as Ilkay Gundogan – in for David Silva in midfield – stooped to head home from a Leroy Sane corner.
Spurs kept themselves in the game until midway through the second half when Kevin De Bruyne doubled City’s advantage with a powerful left-footed strike that flew past Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal.
Gabriel then saw a penalty hit the post but City soon made it 3-0 as Sterling scored his first of the game following a Sane cross before the former Liverpool attacker scored again in the 90th minute after racing through on goal.
Spurs pulled one back through Christian Eriksen in stoppage time but it was too little, too late as City eased to a 4-1 win that sees them extend their lead at the top to 14 points while Spurs drop to seventh.
