Balague: Arsenal Hoping To Sign £53m Aubameyang As Sanchez Edges Towards Man Utd Move
Arsenal are looking to secure a £53m deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Alexis Sanchez edges towards joining Manchester United this month.
The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with Aubameyang…
Arsenal are looking to secure a £53m deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Alexis Sanchez edges towards joining Manchester United this month, according to Guillem Balague.
United have hijacked Manchester City’s proposed deal to sign Sanchez after reportedly offering Arsenal and the attacker more money if he moves to Old Trafford.
United have been widely touted as the new favourites for Sanchez’s signature and Balague claims that while City are not yet out of the race, it appears a move to United is more likely at this stage and a decision will be made over the coming days.
The Chilean international’s departure will leave a huge void to be filled and while Bordeaux attacker Malcom has been strongly linked with Arsenal this month, Balague has put forward another name as the player Arsene Wenger wants to replace Sanchez.
The Sky Sports journalist claims that Arsenal are in for Aubameyang and are hoping to secure a £53m [€60m] deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign the striker this month.
Like Sanchez, Aubameyang was also left out of the squad today for Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg and it looks like a move to north London is now on the cards.
Balague tweeted:
Alexis Sanchez not fully agreed yet. United favourites and next 2-3 days key (nobody takes City out of equation yet). Meanwhile Arsenal want to close soon deal for Aubameyang, left out of squad today, for €60m pic.twitter.com/QtaCcE5Z9P

Aubameyang has been one of the most prolific strikers in European football over the past few years having provided 141 goals and 36 assists in 212 games since joining Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013.
The 28-year-old has already netted 21 goals in his 23 appearances in all competitions this season so he would certainly provide a much-needed goal threat if Arsenal are successful in luring him to the Premier League.

The Gabon international has also been linked with a switch to China but it would be difficult for him to turn down a move to England if Arsenal do manage to get a deal agreed.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like there could be a couple of huge deals confirmed this week with Sanchez and Aubameyang set for big-money moves.
