Tottenham Team News: Poch Confirms Double Injury Boost But Attacker To Miss Liverpool
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed a double injury boost ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Liverpool but an attacker is set to miss out.
Tottenham will be looking to close in on the top four when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided the latest news and injury updates ahead of the game.
The Spurs boss confirmed a double injury boost as Harry Winks and Serge Aurier are back in contention for a place in the squad after returning to full training this week.
Winks has been hampered by a persistent ankle injury for over a month and hasn’t started a game since the middle of December but the midfielder is available for selection this weekend.
Aurier has missed the last two games against Newport County and Manchester United due to an ankle injury but the right-back is also now pushing for a recall against Liverpool.
Lucas Moura completed a deadline day move to Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain but Pochettino says the winger is unlikely to feature this weekend as he’s currently in Paris ‘doing private stuff’.
The Spurs boss told reporters:
Spurs injury latest: Great news. A fully fit squad with Serge Aurier and Harry Winks having returned to full training.

Poch doesn't believe Lucas Moura will be available to play at Anfield. "Yesterday he was doing tests with our sports science staff and medical team. Today he is in Paris doing private stuff. Tomorrow he's back with us. I don't believe it'll be possible for him to be available."

The only other fitness concern for Tottenham is Toby Alderweireld. The centre-back has been in full training over the past two weeks after recovering from a serious hamstring injury but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be declared ready to return to action this weekend.
Tottenham head to Anfield sitting just two points behind Liverpool in fifth position so they can climb in to the top four if they come away with a win this weekend.
