Mohamed Salah scored a late winner as Liverpool came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park and move up to second place in the table.
Palace started well and were given the perfect opportunity to break the deadlock when Loris Karius fouled Wilfried Zaha in the area as he charged out to meet a through-ball.
Skipper Luka Milivojevic took the resulting spot kick and sent Karius the wrong way to make it 1-0 to the hosts in the 13th minute.
Sadio Mane was then booked for an alleged dive in the box at the other end but replays showed there was contact from James McArthur – although the Liverpool attacker made the most of it.
The Reds continued to push for an equaliser after the break and eventually found a way through as Mane was on hand to fire home from close range to make it 1-1 following a James Milner cross.
Christian Benteke missed two great chances to put Palace back in the lead while the hosts were fuming when Mane wasn’t shown a second yellow card for deliberate handball.
And Liverpool made then pay as the in-form Salah grabbed the winner as the Egyptian international fired home in the 84th minute from an Andrew Robertson cross to make it 1-2.
The victory sees Liverpool climb up to second in the Premier League table ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Swansea City at Old Trafford this afternoon.
