The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Federico Chiesa….
Fiorentina have told the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United they can sign Federico Chiesa this summer if they put £44m on the table, according to reports in Italy via the Mirror.
Chiesa is the son of Calcio legend Enrico and has emerged as one of the hottest properties in Italian football since progressing through the Fiorentina youth system.
The 20-year-old is now a first team regular under Stefano Pioli having provided 6 goals and 7assists in his 34 appearances in all competitions so far this season while he’s also broken in to the senior Italian squad in recent months.
The youngsters potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Liverpool and Man Utd have expressed their interest in luring Chiesa to England.
And the newspaper is citing a report from Corriere dello Sport that claims Fiorentina have now told potential suitors that they will cash-in on the winger this summer if their £44m asking price is met.
While Liverpool and United have the resources to meet that asking price they will no doubt look to bring the price down but the report says Fiorentina have made it clear they won’t consider any offers under their £44m valuation.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for another attacking midfielder after failing to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho in January and it seems Chiesa is one of the players Liverpool are considering.
Jose Mourinho is also expected to strengthen his squad this summer as he tries to build a side capable of competing with Man City next season and it looks like United are also showing an interest in the youngster.
