Tottenham Team News: Poch Dealt Huge Double Injury Blow Ahead Of Liverpool Clash
Tottenham have been dealt a major double injury blow after confirming that Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris will miss Saturday’s visit of Liverpool to Wembley.
Tottenham have been dealt a major double injury blow after confirming that Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris will miss Saturday’s visit of Liverpool to Wembley.
Alli completed the full ninety minutes during England’s opening defeat to Spain in the Nations League last weekend but it soon emerged that the midfielder had sustained a muscle problem during the game.
The 22-year-old was released from the Three Lions’ squad on Monday ahead of the friendly win over Switzerland and returned to Tottenham to be further assessed by their medical team.
Gareth Southgate suggested on Tuesday that Alli’s injury was only minor and he was expected to be fit to take on Liverpool in Saturday lunchtimes huge clash at Wembley.
However, Tottenham have been handed a major blow this afternoon after confirming that Alli’s hamstring injury will in fact keep the attacking midfielder out of the game this weekend.
There was further bad news on Hugo Lloris as the north Londoners revealed that the goalkeeper will also miss the visit of Liverpool on Saturday with an on-going thigh injury.
Lloris missed the defeat at Watford before the international break after suffering the problem during the win over Manchester United in late August and the French international is expected to be out for several weeks.
There is slightly better news concerning Moussa Sissoko as the midfielder is due to resume training next week following a hamstring injury but he’s still ruled out of the Liverpool game while young defender Juan Foyth is edging closer to his comeback after returning to training last week.

Alli’s absence will leave a huge void needing to be filled in Mauricio Pochettino’s team and it will be interesting to see who comes in to replace the England international this weekend. However, Michel Vorm is almost certain to continue between the sticks against Liverpool in Lloris’s continued absence.
Pochettino will be disappointed to be without two of his key players as they look to bounce back from the Watford defeat when they take on fellow title rivals Liverpool this weekend.
