Arsenal Handed Major Injury Boost As Key Man Fit To Return For Watford Clash

Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost as Sokratis has been passed fit to return for the visit of Watford to the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, according to Goal’s Chris Wheatley.
Sokratis had been ever present for Arsenal since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer with the centre-back playing every minute of our opening six matches in all competitions and once again lined-up in the middle of defence against Everton last weekend.
However, the Greek international’s run came to an end on Sunday afternoon as he limped off during the 2-0 victory over the Toffees and was replaced by Rob Holding shortly before half time after suffering a dead leg.
Sokratis missed last night’s Carabao Cup third round win over Brentford that saw us ease in to the next phase with a Danny Welbeck brace and a late Alexandre Lacazette strike sealing a 3-1 win over the Championship hopefuls.
However, reporting during Unai Emery’s post-match press conference, Goal reporter Chris Wheatley confirmed on social media that Sokratis is now fit to return for Saturday’s clash with Watford at the Emirates.

The news will come as a huge boost as Sokratis has proven to be an excellent addition to the starting eleven since arriving in the summer with the Greek star producing some dominant displays at the back in recent weeks.
The 30-year-old is aggressive, strong and surprisingly quick so his availability this weekend will be important as we look to secure a win that would see us leapfrog fourth-placed Watford in the table.
